Appearance - You can't beat slate for its' natural beauty. Welsh slate, grey-blue in colour, is universally recognised as the highest quality slate available. However, British isles boasts a number of beautiful varieties and are readily available.

Lifespan - Slate roofs should last at least 100 years, or even longer. In comparison the life span of other roofing systems only last up to half of that before needing replacement.

Fire Resistance - Unlike many other roofing materials, slate tiles themselves are completely heat resistant.That’s a big advantage.

Environmentally Friendly - low energy The greater the durability, the lower the impact. A huge amount of roofing waste gets sent to landfills across the nation every year. Since the majority of that roofing waste can be attributed to fibre-cement or concrete roofing, it’s easy to see the positive environmental impacts of installing a roof that is going to last 100 years or more.

Concrete or Clay?
Tiles in concrete or natural clay are hard wearing and durable. The benefit of clay is the reduction of moss, and many manufacturing leaders are now offering clay as an alternative to concrete at a similar cost. When choosing a re-roof why not consider a similar clay tile instead?
Valleys and ridges can begin to leak due to loose mortar pointing. We can fix this issue either by re-pointing using a waterproof
mortar, or by using the more updated method of a dry-fix system which will give longer lasting results.
